National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index

The National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index, or NCIC-III, is a United States cooperative Federal-state program for the interstate exchange of criminal history record information. The data is held by the National Crime Information Center. The program is designed to facilitate the interstate exchange of criminal history records among criminal justice agencies. In addition to the interstate exchange of criminal history records data this index holds millions of fingerprint identification cards for criminals who have committed a serious enough crime to go to jail for over 24 hours.
